Scott Crampton

Scott Crampton

Head Coach Scott Crampton led the Lamar Community College Runnin’ Lopes in national prominence in his 24-year coaching career.   LCC has won fourteen Empire Conference titles:  1995, 2001-07, 2010-15 and nine Region IX titles:  1995, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2010, 2011, & 2012. During this time the Runnin’ Lopes program has produced fourteen 40-win seasons and three 50-win seasons.  Additionally, the Lopes achieved a Southwest District championship and a third place World Series finish in 2002.  The 2002 team set the school record in wins, finishing with a 59-5 record.  Since taking over the program in 1994, Crampton has guided the Lopes to a total of 1018 wins.

The LCC Baseball program had established a reputation as one of the top junior college programs in the country.  During this time Crampton has placed 225 players in top Division I and Division II programs.  LCC has produced 102 First Team All-Region players, 21 All-Americans, and 31 Academic All-Americans during his tenure. In addition, 32 players have been drafted directly out of LCC or after their junior years at Division I schools since 1999.

Coach Crampton was selected NJCAA Coach of the year nine times.    In addition, Crampton was elected to the 2013 Colorado Dugout Club Hall of Fame as well as the 2020 National Junior College Athletic Association Hall of Fame.
