2026 Region 9 Baseball Players of the Week
Week 1 - 2/2/26 to 2/8/26
Pitcher – This week’s Pitcher of the Week comes from Lamar CC - Benicio Marchiondo, who delivered a strong and gritty outing on the mound, tossing four innings to earn the win in a hard-fought contest vs Garden City. Marchiondo allowed four total runs, with two earned, while giving up just one hit across his appearance. Despite facing some adversity, he showed poise and composure, limiting hard contact and keeping his team within striking distance. The right-hander was especially sharp when it mattered most, racking up six strikeouts over his four innings of work. His ability to miss bats proved crucial, as he worked out of tough situations and prevented big innings from developing.
Player – This week’s Player of the Week comes from Southeast CC - Jack Hogan, who delivered a performance, going an incredible 6-for-10 at the plate with three home runs and five RBIs in a dominant display of offensive firepower vs Odessa. Between his three long balls, he consistently found gaps in the defense, finishing with six total hits in ten trips to the plate. His five RBIs came in crucial moments, driving in runs that shifted momentum and kept pressure on the opposing pitching staff.
Week 2 - 2/9/26 to 2/15/26
Pitcher – This week’s Pitcher of the Week comes from McCook CC - Aviv Bobrov turned in a stellar performance on the mound, tossing five scoreless innings while allowing just one hit and striking out seven to earn the win. The right-hander was in complete control from start to finish, keeping hitters off balance and attacking the strike zone with confidence. Bobrov did not allow a run — earned or unearned — and surrendered only a single base hit in his outing. His dominant effort set the tone early and helped secure the victory.
Player – This week’s Player of the Week comes from McCook CC - Dalton Berg delivered an explosive performance, batting an incredible .538 while driving the offense in every way possible. Berg tallied 2 doubles, 1 triple, and 3 home runs, scoring 8 runs and racking up 13 RBIs. Just as impressive was his discipline at the plate — he struck out only once while drawing 5 walks, consistently putting pressure on opposing pitchers. His all-around production made him a key catalyst and a major force in the lineup.
Week 3 - 2/16/26 to 2/22/26
Pitcher – This week’s Pitcher of the Week comes from Trinidad State College - Nathan Yunick delivered a standout performance on the mound, pitching 6⅓ innings to power his team to a hard-fought win. The right-hander allowed just two runs on four hits while piling up 10 strikeouts in a dominant outing. Yunick set the tone early, attacking the strike zone and keeping hitters guessing with a sharp mix of pitches. Even after giving up two runs, he remained composed, shutting down any chance of a comeback and preserving the lead. By the time he exited in the seventh inning, Yunick had firmly controlled the game, and the bullpen sealed the victory to cap off an impressive team effort.
Player – This week’s Player of the Week comes from Luna CC - John Escobar who put together a really good weekend, powering his team to a series win over Clarendon College with a performance at the plate. Escobar hit an incredible .769 across the series, crushing one home run and lacing a double while driving in 11 RBIs. He accounted for nine runs, consistently delivering in big moments and igniting the offense from start to finish. Whether it was clearing the bases with a clutch swing or setting the tone early in games, his dominant weekend was the driving force behind the series victory.
Week 4 - 2/23/26 to 3/1/26
Pitcher – This week’s Pitcher of the Week comes from Northeastern Junior College Keon Bandy, from Limon, CO, who has been sharp across his outings against Williston and Colby, allowing just one earned run on six hits. He’s also demonstrated strong command and swing-and-miss ability, striking out nine batters while issuing only two walks. His ability to limit damage and control the strike zone has been a key factor in his early success. As the season progresses, Bandy looks poised to take a larger role within their pitching staff.
Player – This week’s Player of the Week comes from Western Nebraska - Catcher Gladysh who turned in a dominant performance at the plate, leading the charge in a strong series against Miles City and Dawson Community College. The sophomore from Brighton, Colorado, was nearly unstoppable, hitting an impressive .464 across 28 at-bats. Gladysh showcased both power and consistency, collecting two doubles, one triple, and three home runs. He played a major role in the offense, scoring 10 runs and driving in 18 RBIs while striking out just five times.
Week 5 - 3/2/26 to 3/8/26
Pitcher – This week’s Pitcher of the Week comes from McCook Community College Tait Anderson, who delivered an impressive outing on the mound, rising to the challenge against powerhouse Iowa Western. The sophomore from New Zealand put together a strong six-inning performance, allowing just four hits and two runs versus one of the toughest offenses on the schedule. Anderson’s command and ability to miss bats were on full display, as he racked up 10 strikeouts in the game.
Player – This week’s Player of the Week comes from Northeastern JC - Eastin Hubbard who put together a standout performance at the plate, leading the offense in a big series against Dawson Community College. The Windsor, Colorado native was locked in all weekend, hitting an impressive .545 and showed off his power and productivity, recording one double and two home runs while driving in 10 RBIs. He also added two runs scored and demonstrated excellent plate discipline, striking out just once throughout the series.
Week 6 - 3/9/26 to 3/15/26
Pitcher – This week’s Pitcher of the Week comes from Western Nebraska Community College Allard Helms, delivered a standout performance on the mound, leading his team to an impressive win over powerhouse Central Arizona. The starting pitcher set the tone early, showcasing command and composure against a tough lineup. Helms worked deep into the game, tossing eight strong innings while allowing just two earned runs on six hits. He kept hitters off balance throughout, mixing his pitches effectively and finishing with four strikeouts. Facing one of the top offenses in the NJCAA, Helms’ ability to limit damage and pitch efficiently proved to be the difference. His outing not only secured the victory but also highlighted his reliability as a key arm in the rotation.

Pitcher – This week’s Pitcher of the Week comes from Otero College Ty Reed, a Delta, Colorado native who delivered a standout performance on the mound over the weekend, proving to be a key asset out of the bullpen. In two appearances, Reed secured a pair of wins across 4.1 innings of work, he allowed just one run n two hits while striking out seven batters. His ability to control the game late and keep opposing hitters off balance played a crucial role in his team’s success during the series.
Player – This week’s Player of the Week comes from McCook CC - Hunter Southey from New Zealand put together a remarkable week at the plate, delivering one of the most explosive offensive stretches of the season. Over six games, Southey hit an eye-popping .545, going 12-for-22 while piling up extra-base hits and driving in runs at a relentless pace. He tallied three doubles, two triples, and launched five home runs, accounting for 13 runs scored and an impressive 20 RBIs. Just as notable was his discipline at the plate—Southey drew five walks and struck out only five times, consistently putting pressure on opposing pitchers.
Week 8 - 3/23/26 to 3/29/26
Pitcher – This week’s Pitcher of the Week comes from Northeastern Junior College Ondrej Vank, from the Czech Republic, who turned in a dominant performance on the mound in conference play, leading his team with a commanding start. The right-hander worked seven scoreless innings, allowing just three hits while striking out nine batters. Vank controlled the game from the first pitch, mixing his arsenal effectively to keep opposing hitters off balance and unable to generate consistent offense. His poise and efficiency allowed him to pitch deep into the game while maintaining a shutout effort to collect the win.
Player – This week’s Player of the Week comes from Luna CC - Jacob Estrada from El Paso, TX, who put together a solid performance at the plate during a conference split series, leading the offense with a .600 batting average. Estrada consistently came through in key moments, collecting hits and driving production across the lineup. He tallied a double and blasted three home runs, accounting for eight runs scored while driving in seven RBIs. His power and consistency proved to be a difference-maker throughout the series.
Week 9 - 3/30/26 to 4/5/26
Pitcher – This week’s Pitcher of the Week comes from McCook Community College Tait Anderson delivered a dominant performance on the mound, putting together a stellar outing over seven strong innings. Anderson allowed no earned runs while giving up just six hits, effectively shutting down opposing hitters throughout the game, striking out six batters and consistently worked out of any potential trouble. Despite a few scattered hits, he never allowed the opposition to build momentum.
Player – This week’s Player of the Week comes from Southeast Community College. Gabe Dalton, who put together an incredible stretch at the plate In just 13 at-bats, Dalton posted a scorching .692 batting average, consistently finding ways to drive the ball and produce runs. He tallied two doubles and blasted two home runs, powering his offense while accounting for five runs scored and an impressive 10 RBIs. Even more notable was his discipline at the plate, striking out only three times during the span.
Week 10 - 4/6/26 to 4/12/26
Pitcher – This week’s Pitcher of the Week comes from Southeast Community College Van Hanneberg who turned in a strong outing on the mound, leading his team to victory with a steady and composed performance. The right-hander pitched seven innings, allowing just one earned run while working through nine hits. Hanneberg stayed in control throughout, collecting key outs at critical moments and finishing with 12 outs recorded to help secure the win. Despite traffic on the bases, he limited damage and kept the opposition from stringing together big innings.
Player – This week’s Player of the Week comes from Lamar Community College. Keenan Oxford who hit an even .500, showcasing a powerful and consistent swing that kept pitchers on edge. He launched six home runs, driving in 15 RBIs and accounting for nine runs scored, proving to be the centerpiece of his team’s offense. Oxford also showed patience at the plate, drawing three walks to complement his already impressive stat line..
